Elisa Bonazzi

Fundamental to her training was a meeting with Monica Bacelli, with whom she graduated from the two-year opera singing course at the Bologna Conservatory. She also specialised in the contemporary repertoire with Alda Caiello.
Her concert experience covers the baroque period in its chamber music and opera declinations, the romantic and decadent period as regards lieder and contemporary music both chamber and opera.
She collaborates with the Orchestra da Camera di Parma with whom she performed Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater and took part in the International Music Festival of Cartagena as a leading interpreter of the Baroque repertoire under the direction of Sebastiano Rolli. He made his debut as Bradamante in Vivaldi’s Orlando furioso at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca and as Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo e Euridice at the Auditorium del Parco in L’Aquila with the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese conducted by Marcello Bufalini.
She collaborates with the ensembles De Labyrintho and Rosso Porpora, conducted by Walter Testolin, with whom she has performed in important concert venues such as: Palazzo Zevallos in Naples, Festival Vesperali in Lugano, Festival dell’Ispirazione – VDNKH in Moscow, Festival Trame Sonore in Mantua, Teatro Vittoria in Turin. 
Interested in lieder and more generally in chamber music for voice and piano, she devoted herself to Liederabende tackling authors such as Schubert and Debussy (Gesänge aus Wilhelm Meister and Fêtes galantes, at the Goethe Institut in Bologna), Brahms, Bridge, Kantcheli and Shostakovic (Berenstein Klavierhochschule in Berlin and in the Concert Season ‘Classica da Mercato’ in Bologna), Strauss and Berg (Conservatorio Niccolini in Piacenza), Mahler Rückert Lieder with the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese (L’Aquila) and Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (Bologna).
Her great interest in 20th century and contemporary music has led her to perform, among others, music by Berio, Cage, Stockhausen, Scelsi, Solbiati, Fedele, Guarnieri, Lim, Lombardi, Rotaru, Britten and Bernstein.
She has performed Mrs Jaffett in Britten’s Noye’s Fludd under the baton of Jonathan Webb and voice 1 in Berio’s Laborintus under the baton of Fabrice Pierre at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and in the auditorium of the CNSMD in Lyon and under the baton of Marcello Panni in the Aula Magna of the University La Sapienza in Rome and at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara.
He has performed world and Italian premieres: the opera La stessa barca by Raffaele Sargenti for Biennale Musica Venezia 2017, Three Angels by Liza Lim (2020) Human Signs by Yuval Avital (2020), Soliloquy and SHAKE! by Claudio Ambrosini in Ateneo Veneto and Biblioteca marciana in Venice, Sei cose impossibili prima di colazione and Monster Study by Michele Foresi for Ghislierimusica and Festival “Musica In Prossimità” in Pinerolo, The Wood And The Vine and Forbidden Subjects by David Lang and A Calendar Of Kings by Peter Maxwell Davies for Fondazione Maramotti – Reggio Emilia, a six-voice work by Beat Furrer in collaboration with the ensemble Vox Altera for the festival La Via Lattea 2017 in Mendrisio.
She collaborates with Philippe Herrewege’s Collegium Vocale Gent and Diego Fasolis’ I Barocchisti; she is the founder of Zero Vocal Ensemble, a vocal octet with which she explores new languages and expressive techniques in contemporary music.
She has been conducted by, among others, Riccardo Muti, Wladimir Ashkenazy, Roberto Abbado, Markus Poschner, Dennis Russell Davies.
In two years of collaboration with European Contemporary Orchestra, she performed, among others, the premiere of Ivan Fedele’s Calimerita at the Flagey in Brussels.
He performed the show Tra la carne e il cielo in two different editions, with Ennio Fantastichini and later with Moni Ovadia.
Active in prose theatre, she has acted in plays by William Shakespeare (Macbeth, The Tempest), Carlo Goldoni (The Loving Handmaid), Eugène Ionesco (The Bald Singer), Euripides (Medea), T.S. Eliot (Murder in the Cathedral), Laura Falqui (A Tea Party and a Mad Entertainer, Saffron, Trains, Amazons – Jackals on the Board).
In addition to Italian, she sings and acts fluently in English, German, French and Spanish.
Among his recordings, for Tactus, Glossa, Amadeus: Folk Songs by L.Berio and Siete canciones populares Españolas by M. De Falla; Madrigali and Messe by C.Cortellini; La liberazione di Ruggero dall’isola di Alcina by F.Caccini; Lateinisches Magnificat by G. Ph. Telemann; Carmina Nova with Latinobalcanica Ensemble; Liszt’s Via Crucis; Eyvind Kang’s Athlantis with Mike Patton.
He edited the transcription in modern notation of the volume “MADREGALI A TRE VOCI de diversi eccellentissimi autori Nuovamente Con Ogni Diligentia Ristampati e Corretti In Venetia Appresso di Antonio Gardano (1561)” published by AERCO (2005).
He recorded the soundtrack for films such as Fantasmi a Ferranìa (2020) and Storie del dormiveglia (2017) with music by Simonluca Laitempergher.
