Alessio Tosi

He brilliantly graduated in singing (2010) and vocal chamber music (2012). He has won prestigious international singing competitions, including the 6th International Baroque Singing Competition “F.Provenzale” in Naples (2009), the 24th International Vocal Chamber Music Competition “Città di Conegliano” (2010), the International Competition “F.Viñas” in Barcelona (2012, vocal chamber music section), the International Competition “G.Neri” in Torrita di Siena (2010, vocal chamber music section), the International Competition “Schloss vor Husum” (vocal chamber music section), Germany. He has perfected his studies with renowned masters such as Dalton Baldwin, Julius Drake, Irwin Gage, Ulrich Eisenlhor, Charles Spencer, Ulf Bästlein and Walter Moore as far as vocal chamber music is concerned and, in particular, he has deepened his studies in the baroque repertoire with Sara Mingardo.

He regularly collaborates with the most prestigious international baroque music groups such as La Venexiana by C.Cavina (now G.Palomba), La Capella Reyal de Catalunya by J.Savall, Cappella Neapolitana by T.Florio, Nederlands Kamerkoor by P.Deijkstra, Collegium Praga 1704 by V.Luks, Concerto de’Cavalieri by A. DiLisa, Concerto Romano by A.Quarta, Coro della Radiotelevisione Svizzera Italiana by D.Fasolis, Allabastrina Consort by E.Sartori, Modo Antiquo by F.M.Sardelli, Cappella Mediterranea by L.G.Alarco; Cantar Lontano by M.Mencoboni; La Risonanza by F.Bonizzoni and Accademia Bizantina by O.Dantone.

His activity has led him to perform as a soloist at the most important international festivals (Mito Milan and Turin, Ravenna Festival, Klangvokal Dortmund, Utrecht, Berlin, Tokyo, Berne, Amuz/De Singel Antwerp, Robeco Zommer Amsterdam, Styriarte Graz, White Light New York City, Mexico City, St. Petersburg, Paris, Brussels, Stuttgart, Regensburg, Dias do Musica Lisbon, Mystera Paschalia Krakow, Enescu Bucharest, Lyon, Mozartiana Gdansk,… ) and in the most beautiful theatres and concert halls (Lincoln Centre New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Leiszhalle Hamburg, Wiener Konzerthaus, Berliner Konzerthaus, Salle Pierre Boulez Berlin, Kölner Philharmonie, Cité de la Musique Paris, Palazzo Puskin St. Petersburg, Teatro Olimpico Vicenza, Teatro Comunale Ferrara, San Marco Venice, Capelle Royale Versailles, Teatro Bolivar Mexico City, Tivoli Vredenburg Utrecht, Teatro di Villa Torlonia Rome, Teatro Vespasiano Rieti, …

The repertoire ranges from Renaissance madrigals, Monteverdian operas, the Vespo della Beata Vergine, major oratorios and operas by Handel and Vivaldi, evangelist and arias from Bach’s Passions and the Christmas oratorio, to Mozart’s masses and operas. An acclaimed liederist, he has the main cycles and masterpieces of German, French, English and Russian vocal chamber music in his repertoire. His most recent engagements include the role of Eurimaco in C. Monteverdi’s Il ritorno di Ulisse in Patria at the Monteverdi Festival in Cremona, Teatro Ponchielli, directed by L. De Angelis, conducted by O. Dantone; tenor soloist in J. S. Bach’s cantatas BWV 214, 134 and 120 under the baton of D. Fasolis at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza; the recording for Glossa of A. Vivaldi’s Serenata a 3 with Modo Antiquo under the baton of F. M. Sardelli. Upcoming engagements include the opening of the Klagenfurt Festival with J.S.Bach’s Magnificat BWV243 and A.Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus RV595 with Orchestra Da Ponte under the baton of R. Zarpellon, two solo recitals in Venice for the Venice Music Project and the recording of the Rappresentazione di Anima e Corpo by E. de’Cavalieri (role of Body, with Emanuela Galli and Roberta Invernizzi) with Allabastrina Consort under the direction of E. Sartori for the Glossa label.

An appreciated teacher, he holds courses, seminars and masterclasses on vocal technique and baroque performance practice both in Italy and abroad. Since 2021, he has been working as a consultant for the baroque ornamentation class with the CNSDL (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon).
He has recorded for Sony, Glossa, Tactus, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Brilliant Classics, Velut Luna and for major European radio and television channels such as ORF, BBC, Radio France, Rai 3, Swiss Classic, Klassik, RSI Rete 2, Br-Klassik, SWR, NPO.
He won the competition, based on qualifications and examinations, to teach Renaissance and Baroque singing in the pre-academic courses at the Conservatorio ‘Santa Cecilia’ in Rome, 2011. He is currently teaching Renaissance and Baroque singing at the Conservatory of Mantua.
