The traditional appointment with the “Music Day” organized as part of the 24th Concert Season of the Orchestra UNIMI is back again this year. A musical marathon will be held on Friday, June 21 at the ICS Milan Auditorium in Viale Ortles 46 thanks to a new collaboration with the ICS Milan International School.
This musical feast will offer music ranging from the classical repertoire to today’s music, with also a choral tribute to the city of Milan, realized in collaboration with Azienda Socio-Sanitaria Territoriale Santi Paolo e Carlo, Associazione Amici della Nave OdV, ICS Milan International School, Macrò Maudit Teàter, Serate Musicali, SONG – Sistema in Lombardia.
Protagonists in the morning, at 11:30 a.m., will be the youngsters of UKOM & PYO – Pasquinelli Young Orchestra of SONG – Sistema in Lombardia, conducted by M° Carlo Taffuri. The programme will then continue in the afternoon starting at 4:30 p.m., first with the Doré Quartet (Ilaria Taioli and Samuele Di Gioia violin, José Manuel Muriel López viola and Caterina Vannoni cello), then, with Marco Sorge (clarinet), Federico Silvestro and Christine Champlon, (violins), Giulia Sandoli (viola) and Chiara Torselli (cello), musicians of the Orchestra UNIMI , who will perform the Quintet in A major K.581 “Stadler-Quintett” by Mozart. Then it will be the turn of the Amat Sax Quartet, composed of Aldo Figheri on soprano sax, Tommaso Michelotti on alto sax, Annamaria Savitteri on tenor sax, and Michele Scialpi; to continue with the duo formed by Selene Framarin, clarinet and bass clarinet, and Lorenzo Barbera, percussion, who will offer a pot-pourri that goes from Corelli to Piazzolla.
The evening will feature two choral events. The Amici della Nave di San Vittore Choir with the Piccola Orchestra AdN, in collaboration with Macrò Maudit Teàter will propose Milano inCantata, a tribute to Milan, a city that has always been a crossroads of poets and musicians, in music and words: from Jannacci to Gaber, Vecchioni to Strehler. But also with lyrics written by SerD patients and inmates of the La Nave ward of San Vittore, run by Asst Santi Paolo e Carlo, who tell about “their” Milan. Closing the musical marathon will be the Coro UNIMI directed by Marco Berrini first in chamber formation with a programme ranging from Palestrina to Bettinelli and then lined up in full ensemble, and joined by Orchestra UNIMI musicians Artem Dzeganovskyi and Flavia Succhiarelli on violin, Francesco Dessy on cello, Marco Di Francesco on double bass and Marimo Toyoda on basso continuo, for a performance of Mozart’s Messa KV 140 “Pastorale” for choir, strings and basso continuo.
